Known limitations
What this version can't do, and behaviour worth knowing about.
Files#
.gp3,.gp4and.gp5files can’t be opened. Convert them to.gpfirst.- Exporting to a
.gpfile loses the pedalboard and system breaks. - You can’t export in the
.gpxformat. - A track’s sounding transposition can’t be exported to a
.gpfile.
Editing#
- You can’t edit the score during playback. Undo, cut and paste are paused too. Copying and moving the cursor still work.
- Filling a short bar with rests may not cover leftover tuplet lengths. This applies both to clicking the meter and to the Fill Short Bars With Rests setting.
- After you write one note in an empty bar partway through the song, both →Right and audio note input move on to the next bar and leave the remainder of the bar empty.
- The voice keys switch only between the first and second voices.
- Deleting a bar affects only the bar under the cursor, even with a range selected.
- On piano and drum tracks, number keys don’t enter notes.
Playback and export#
- MIDI and audio export aren’t available during playback.
- MIDI files don’t include technique marks, lyrics or chord names.
- The audio export format is fixed at stereo, 44.1 kHz, 16-bit.
- Gradual tempo changes, fermatas and the sustain pedal are only drawn in the score; they don’t affect playback.
- Guitar played through the pedalboard isn’t included in audio export.
Display#
- Technique text in the score (such as P.M. and let ring) and note names are always in English, whatever the language.
- Track and section names imported from
.gpfiles aren’t translated. - Direction names such as D.S. appear the same in every language.
Free version#
- Saving, exporting and printing aren’t available.
- There’s no autosave, so changes are lost when you close.
