Keys for

Add and delete bars

Insert and delete bars. At the end of the song, pressing → adds bars automatically.

Insert a bar#

Press ⌘BCtrl+B to insert an empty bar right after the bar under the cursor.

From the menus, choose BarInsert Bar. The new bar takes the time signature of the bar before it and is filled with rests exactly that long. The cursor moves to the start of the new bar.

Bars are added to every track at once. You can’t add a bar to just one track.

Delete a bar#

Press ⌘⇧BCtrl+Shift+B to delete the bar under the cursor from every track.

From the menus, choose BarDelete Bar. If the deleted bar changed the time or key signature, the next bar takes over the change, so later bars keep their signatures. You can’t delete the last remaining bar. A deleted bar comes back, contents and all, with ⌘ZCtrl+Z.

Add bars at the end of the song#

On the last beat of the song, press →Right; if the bar is full, a new bar is created.

If the bar is still short, a beat is added instead. The added beat uses the note value selected in the edit palette. To add a beat to a full bar anyway, press ⌘⇧ICtrl+Shift+I.

Fill the rest of a bar with rests#

Choose BarFill Rest of Bar with Rests to fill the remainder of a short bar with rests.

Only the track and voice under the cursor are filled. Matching bar length explains how to make bar lengths match.
