System requirements and installation

The computers Tonograph runs on, and how to install the free and paid versions.

System requirements#

Tonograph runs on a Mac with macOS 12.0 or later, and on Windows 10 or later.

On a Mac it runs on both Apple silicon and Intel; on Windows, on both x64 and Arm PCs. You don’t need an audio interface to hear your scores. The free version is for Mac only. On Windows, get the paid version from the Microsoft Store.

Installing the paid version#

Buy Tonograph on the Mac App Store on a Mac, or on the Microsoft Store on Windows, and the app is installed.

Updates also arrive through the store you bought it from.

Installing the free version#

Download the disk image from the free version page, then drag Tonograph inside it to your Applications folder.

There are separate disk images for Apple silicon and Intel. Choose the one that matches your Mac. The free version is notarized by Apple, so it opens straight away.

Microphone permission#

Tonograph asks for microphone permission only when you use the tuner or guitar input.

You don’t need to allow it just to write and play scores. Input audio is processed on your computer and is never saved or sent.
