Chords and voices
How to stack several notes on one beat, and how to write independent parts.
Write a chord#
Stay on the same beat, move between strings with ↑Up or ↓Down, and type a fret on each string.
Typing a number on another string of a beat that already has notes adds a note on that string. The beat’s length doesn’t change.
Use voices#
⌥↑⌥↓Alt+UpAlt+Down moves to the other voice in the same bar.
A voice is a line of notes that runs independently within a bar. Use voices to write parts with different rhythms on one track, such as a thumb bass line under a melody.
If the voice you move to doesn’t exist yet, a new voice is created in that bar only, filled with rests as long as the time signature. Other bars are not affected.
