Harmonics

Add harmonics, played by touching the string lightly. There are five types to choose from.

Add a harmonic#

Select a note and press ⇧HShift+H to cycle through the harmonic types.

Each press goes Natural, Artificial, Pinch, Tap, Semi, then none. The ▾ on Harmonic in the Edit palette lets you pick a type directly.

The types differ in how the harmonic is produced.

Natural: touch the string lightly above a fret of the open string.
Artificial: fret a note and touch the string with the picking hand twelve frets higher.
Pinch: catch the string with the pick and thumb to bring out a high overtone.
Tap: fret a note and tap the string twelve frets higher.
Semi: mix a little of the harmonic into the normal note.
