Ties, hammer-ons and slides
Techniques that join two notes. Each depends on the notes before or after.
Tie#
Select the later note and press TT to tie it from the previous note on the same string.
A tied note isn’t played again; the previous note simply rings on. If there’s no earlier note on the same string, a warning appears in the warnings panel.
Hammer-ons and pull-offs#
Select the earlier note and press HH to move to the next note on the same string without picking again.
If the next note is higher it’s a hammer-on, and if lower a pull-off. Both are added the same way. They’re available on string tracks such as guitar and bass.
Slide#
Select a note and press SS to cycle through the slide types.
Each press goes Shift Slide, Legato Slide, then none. The ▾ on Slide in the Edit palette lets you pick a type directly.
A Shift Slide picks the next note again, and a Legato Slide glides to the next note without picking.
