Keys for

Muting techniques

Change how long and how hard notes sound with palm mute, dead notes, ghost notes and let ring.

Palm mute#

Select a note and press PP for a short note damped with the palm.

The score shows “P.M.”, and in playback the note is cut short.

Dead note#

Press XX for a muffled, pitchless hit.

The fret number in the tab becomes “×”. Use it for percussive strumming.

Ghost note#

Press GG to put the note in brackets and play it softly.

Use it for barely audible notes that keep the rhythm going.

Let ring#

Press LL to keep a note ringing after the next note is played.

Add it where notes should overlap and ring together, as in an arpeggio.

Let the whole track ring#

Turn on Auto Let Ring on the Track tab of the Inspector to let every note in the track ring.

It saves adding let ring note by note. The score just shows “let ring throughout” at the start of each system. It’s available on string tracks such as guitar and bass.
